Custom Rebuild in Preparation for Norra Mexican 1000

Fab School founder Troy Johnson has been involved in the off road industry for over 25 years. Johnson combined his interest in racing and fabrication to jumpstart his career many years ago. He has helped bring many top teams to victory including, but not limited to, Curt LeDuc, Walker Evans, Mike Leslie and Team Kia with Darren Skilton which led him to start Johnson Fab. Many years later we are here getting ready to celebrate 12 years of passing on the knowledge with The Fab School.

Troy has joined forces with Hap Kellogg, of Kellogg Motorsports, to rally the Class 5 Unlimited race car to top finishes in the past few years of the Norra Mexican 1000. The team is set to head south down the peninsula in search of another nostalgic victory for this years rally.

We are excited to honor those who founded the race and can’t wait to race against some of the best racers history has seen hit the dirt. We look forward to this race every year and this year is no different. We have LeadNav guiding the way this year, and are excited to test out an alternative navigation to the norm. Troy and Hap will share the driving duties as we progress down the peninsula, so be sure to follow along with the live updates on

Troy with our team of instructors at The Fab School implemented a number of custom fabrication parts wherever possible. The new LeadNav System mounts, etched safety net clips, custom skid plates, bumpers, and a ton more. If you are heading down south be sure to get a first hand look. The #521 has been completely rebuilt and is ready to hit the dirt.

Stay tuned and we will update you as we complete each stage of the rally!
