The FAB School Joins the MORE Powder Puff Race

Riverside, California (June 9, 2006)

The Fab School’s Administrator, Melissa Davis, is teaming up with Founder/Director Troy Johnson’s mother/partner Sarah Johnson-Keener to race in the MORE DAMZL Powder Puff Races for fight against Breast Cancer. Chris Bowman of CAN DO Racing #500 has generously donated his SCORE championship car to The Fab School for this very special event. Chris has even agreed to let Melissa put some hot pink flames on his manly blue car! The Fab School and CAN DO Racing #500 will be side by side with MW Motorsports #127’s ladies, Brenda Wilcoxson and Tracy Melendrez. The Fab School and MW Motorsports have been racing together in the MORE series for several years.

Early in the year of 2005, Troy Johnson introduced his niece Melissa Davis to the off-road industry when they started working towards a vision: The Fab School. An off-road veteran, Troy Johnson spent countless hours guiding Melissa through the off-road world by teaching her the ins-and-outs. After attending a few races, Melissa found her place in the industry alongside her uncle, and now Troy and Melissa are facing a new adventure in teaching her to drive off-road.

Melissa commented, “I am really eager to get behind the wheel for such a great cause. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me learning how to drive and while getting sponsors for the cause but I am proud to have my Uncle Troy beside me along the way.”

Troy mentioned, “I am excited for more women to get involved in the sport and I am happy to see Melissa and my mom join in on the fun.”

Troy’s mother, Sarah Johnson – Keener, a veteran of off-road her self, will be co-riding the first half of the race with Melissa and then they will switch positions. Sarah started racing off-road in 1988, but her racing career came to an abrupt stop when Troy sold their 5/1600 car after the San Felipe 250 in 1996, so he could open up Johnson Fabrication, his off-road fabrication business. Sarah has been involved with the annual breast cancer walk for six years and is excited to join another group to fight for the cause.

Sarah said, “People would always ask Troy, how in the world did you get you mother in a race car? He would simply say, ‘One day I was looking around, and there she was in the passenger seat—and she never got out.’ I loved racing with my son and when he sold our car he left me with a void that only a racer could understand. I am thrilled to death to get back in the car and join Melissa to win the race against breast cancer. ”

The dynamic lady duo is determined to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer while leaving some powder puff butt in the dust.

The Fab School will be turning to their current sponsors and seeking out new sponsors for their generous donations and support towards this event. The Fab School will pay for all fees associated with the race and students will prep the CAN DO Racing #500 car under Troy’s watchful eye. The Fab School ladies will be out in the desert later this month to start their rigorous training so watch out, there is going to be a woman behind the wheel!
